A funeral service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Burnet with interment to follow at Burnet City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 1 at Jenkins Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St Burnet, Texas.

Carroll was born on October 10, 1930 to “Ham” and Maggie Heffington in Marble Falls, Texas.  He was raised in both Marble Falls and Burnet but graduated from Burnet High School in 1947.  Upon graduation, joined the U. S. Navy where he served proudly for 20 years as a Navy Submariner.  After retirement from the Navy in 1967, he and his family moved back to Burnet.  He attended barber school in Austin then worked in Hullum’s Barber Shop for 30 years.  On October 6, 1984 he married his wife Martha of 35 years.  Carroll was a member of First Baptist Church of Burnet for over 50 years as well as a Member of the Burnet Masonic Lodge for more than 35 years and the Order of the Eastern Star.

He taught his children the importance of giving to others and the importance of service to your country and community.  He raised his own vegetables and often would give them away to families that were less fortunate.  As a barber, he would give haircuts to many families that he knew could not afford them and would often make home visits to those that were no longer able to come into the Barber Shop.

Carroll is preceded in death by his parents, “Ham” and Maggie Heffington; daughter, Melinda Gayle Heffington; stepson, Kirk Tatum and sisters, Earline Heffington and Lolita McFarland.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughters, Julie Ringstaff and Kandy Daughtry; grandchildren, Josh Ringstaff, Chance Ringstaff, Blake Ringstaff, Bailey Ringstaff, Clint Ringstaff, Matthew Fry, Kyle Fry, Ryan Tatum; great grandchildren, Levi Ringstaff, Braxton Ringstaff, Grayson Ringstaff, Parker Ringstaff, Lincoln Ringstaff, Caroline Ringstaff, Bryson Ringstaff, Hunter Ringstaff, Carson Ringstaff, Cheyenne Ringstaff, Addie Jane Ringstaff, Sullivan Fry, Daniel Tatum, and Jenny Tatum.
